Test Grade Calculator

Divide what was scored by what the test was out of, then multiply by 100.

A test of 25 questions with 4 wrong leaves 21 correct. 21 divided by 25 is 0.84, which is 84%, a B. Each question carries 4% of the score.

The same test read the other way round, as every wrong-answer count at once, is the chart on the easy grader.

A paper marked out of points works the same way. 43 points out of 50 is 86%, a B, and each point is worth 2% of the grade.

Extra credit decides what a score above the total does. 53 points on a test out of 50 counts as 106%, letter A, when extra credit is on, and 100% when it is off.

Once the test has its percentage, it joins the category it belongs to at that category's weight, which is the sum the grade calculator runs for the whole course. A whole class marked at once, where the top paper fell short of the maximum, is moved before that with the grade curve calculator.

A cutoff in percent becomes a point total once the test's size is known. On a test out of 50 points and the standard 10-point scale, the letters land here.

Those cutoffs are the site's default, and a school that awards pluses and minuses splits each letter into three, so 89% is a B here and a different letter on a plus/minus table. The grading scale page carries the tables districts publish.
